A Nice Turnout Saturday At The Salisbury VFW |

Finally a nice Saturday attended turnout! This past Saturday's (July 18th) charity tournament at the Salisbury VFW had a nice turnout. As most of you know, the Saturday tournaments have been off in attendance since the April 18th incident. Ironically, the location where the incident occurred 3 months ago to the day, had 42 players with 4 reseats creating a $4,600 prize pool. 1st place was $1,700 and they paid 5 places. Congratulations to Barry B., Michael C., Ernie E., Anthony H. who decided to chop $1,060 each, with Jay T. getting $500 for 5th. The usual $5/5 game lasted until 11PM. There was also a $.50/$1 and $1/2 game that also lasted late into the night. With this great turnout and the interest for next Saturday's Crisfield Elks Deep Stacks, we expect another great tournament. The buyin will be $300 and with that amount making close to a $10,000 prize pool and a $5,000 1st place prize. In addition, the Crisfield Elks have promised a great meal of Crab Cakes and Shrimp with all the fixings. Doors open at 10AM with $65 SNG's with 1st and 2nd place winning their buyin. In order to play in the SNGs you have to be at the Elks by 11AM. Main Event begins at 12 Noon. Cash Games and SNGs all day too!

UPDATE: Play concluded with at 8:30PM with a 5 way chop of $2,000 a piece. Congratulations to the Salisbury VFW for another successful tournament. This was a first of it's kind in a "public (legal) format" in Maryland. Jeff R. and Bill K. from the VFW should be applauded for their effort. The whole idea started when Frank Ward and I (Jeff Mc) talked about hosting this event at a different location in July. Frank took the ball and ran and 4 weeks later, June 27th and now history. As Frank learned it is easy to get players to say they will play, but getting all of them showing up is another story. Thanks to some late minute players coming forward 24 of the more than 30 players who committed to play showed up and made an excellant prize pool. From what I heard, the dealers worked out well and the game was enjoyed by all. The "after tournament" games were great with the hefty $5/5 game going late into the evening.
