Thank you for choosing VFW Post 194 to play Poker. Your business is appreciated, and we are proud of the many successful Poker Tournaments that have occurred during the year. As you have read, 100 Players w/16 Re-Seats. WOW!!!! The weekly Thursday Night attendance rate has been approximately 60 players, with a normal top prize of over $1,000 an event. Saturday Poker Tournaments have maintained 55-65 Players with a few Re-Seats.
This success is a combined effort. I want to personally thank Bill King my Assistant Director. I couldn’t run these events without him. He is a true friend of mine that holds strong values to FAIRNESS and HONESTY. Joan King is the Check and Balance that keeps Bill and I straight. She is the GRIM REAPER that collects the Buy In’s, but I can assure you the payouts are 100% accurate. Many thanks, Joan. Cheryl Rantz is our SWEAT TOOTH EXPERT, she provides a bag or two of candy to take in each week and she makes the pies we have grown accustomed to enjoying. Cheryl, as I tell you often, I couldn’t do it without ya. My back up Assistant is Rick Nibblet. He helps me out of jams when work and play don’t coincide for me. Rick, thanks for being available. Jack Lewis is the club manager of the VFW who provides us with the excellent bartender staff, great short order food, cold spirits, and a neat and tidy VFW Post.
I want to give a very special THANK YOU to a few players that provide their specialties in the food industry to give us a food spread that is untouchable at CHRISTMAS: Marteen Sanchez, owner of OLD WEST STEAK HOUSE supplies the meat balls, Ray Twifford, owner of RAY’S SHANEY supplies the seafood; and Alex Bubbas, owner of ZIA’s RESTAURANT supplies the pasta and salad.
2010 is on the way in….The plans are to keep things consistent with 2009….We have plans on at least 4 Saturday Games for 2010, continue the weekly Thursday Night Games, and provide satellite games for each Civic Center Event….We look forward to seeing you on the tables…..GOOD LUCK to ALL, may you hit your flops and suck out as needed on the river…..
CHEERS,
Jeff Rantz
