This is my 1st comment on this site, I've been watching the news and have been praying that they find this little girl. I was angry when I heard the news today. I was hoping for an Xmas miracle. This ruined Xmas for me and my family. I just need a place to vent. Excue me for my 1st post to be an angry one but this is a horrible thing. I hope that if Thomas Legg is responsible he never sees the outside of jail. I don't think Maryland has the death penalty but if there was ever a need for it, this would be it.
That guy looked familar, did he ever play at Salisbury VFW? Thats the only place I play at? I'd hate to think I shared a table with scom like him.

EDITOR'S NOTE: Yes Mr. Leggs played quite often at the Salisbury VFW and many other local charity poker venues.

I can't imagine why anyone would do such a thing to a person, but to do harm/kill a child is cowardly.
To jeff: As myself being a city Officer, I feel that there should be a criminal check on all players. There is a lot of money that is in that building and some of the subjects playing there aren't the best community contributor's. If a person is found to have a criminal record (As in a serious felony charge etc.)or a sex offender he/she should not play. I knew he was a sex offender and all I could ever do was think about that ever time I saw him playing cards and especially sitting at a table with him. It breaks my heart because I was so close to him as most of use were and couldn't stop what has happend. It makes me feel like I should have done something but couldn't especially being so close to an animal as he is. May he rot. My prayers are with the family of the victim.

I would like to take this time to thank both of the Jeff's. To Jeff Rantz, thank you so much for what you do for our community. I doult most of the players know your true profession. Your wish touch my family's heart. Our Christmas wasn't the same. I see here that more then one person knew about Thomas, even another player mentioned to me that he know he was this animal. It is not a criminal offense to warn others about this animal. Jeff and kjr I think you should of told all of us about him that play poker every Thursday. What if I befriended this monster and took him home to my family? Then what? I didn't go around checking the sex offender registry, but you can bet your sweet butt I will be now!

I’m going to start by saying; I’ve received a lot of phone calls about this situation. Well as all of us are aware, Sarah has been found. Rest assured she is in heaven and she never has to worry about being hurt again. AND rest assured, Tom Leggs killed her. All the details of Sarah’s murder should not be released at this time. We don’t need to allow Tom Leggs any outs to ESCAPE JUSTICE. All the information of this sick and unnecessary murder will be revealed during Tom Leggs’s court case.
I’ve read the comments posted in the article and it’s really nice to read the expressions of grace to Jeff and me. Truly, Jeff and I are good friends that reunited our friendship with our love for the game of POKER. As I’ve gotten involved with running Poker Tournaments for VFW Post 194, Jeff has given me numerous accounts of “BEEN THERE AND DONE THAT” situations. We often talk about how to make things better. We often talk about the field of players.
On December of 2008, I found out Tom Leggs was a registered sex offender in Wicomico County. This information came to my attention by a post from Tom’s ex-wife to Salisbury News, Mr Joe Albero’s web site, http://sbynews.blogspot.com/. The field of poker players did not know Tom was a sex offender. I’m sure that conversation would not come up during hands. I had not had any problems with Tom in our VFW or at the poker tables. He sucked as a poker player. I asked other players about Tom, and they too didn’t know he was sex offender nor did they have any problems with Tom. I made a decision to allow Tom to keep playing at the VFW.
I have sent several letters out to player telling them not to return to the VFW for poker. Players have been banned for CHEATING. Other players have been banned for being nuisances and disruptive. At this point, we haven’t banned players for being criminals or law violators. I think if we try to get in that business, things would get really messy.
I’m going to conclude by saying. We (VFW Post 194 and Jeff McMahon) go to extremes to assure you are safe and informed. I hope you had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year…..

It is so sad for something like this to happen anytime,for it to happen at this time of year makes it even worse for all who hold life and religion sacrid.I can not begin to imagine the pain and sorrow that Sarah's family has and will continue to go through. My thoughts and prayers are with you as you try to see your way through this terrible tragedy.
To the piece of snake crap who did this to Sarah I can only hope that you will get what you deserve in prison. I really hope that MD has the death penalty, for this is what he really deserves.
I thought that he looked familliar to me , then when Jeff wrote the artical I realizedthat I had probably played cards with this piece of snake crap. This makes me angry , although I know it is hard to prevent such situations from occuring. If you tried to ban everyone with a record you would have the ACLU on you faster than you could call your lawyer.

As for both Jeff's they do a wonderful job running the tourneys and keeping everyone informed. The last time I played Tom sat next to me and he was a rude jerk. Everyone at the table knew he was a jerk but me. I hope and pray he gets exactly what is coming to him. This innocent little girl can now rest in peace. I take it her aunt had custody and why was she dating a sexual preditor such as Leggs to begin with? Where was the protection she was to provide for the children? Was a boyfriend more important than safety? Shame on her for putting these children at risk!
