UPDATED: Sunday, December 27, 2009 - A few players have posted comments to Jeff Rantz' request. Maybe many players didn't know, but yes, Tom Leggs, played quite often at many of the local charity poker venues. I have received several phone callls yesterday and today from some of our members who expressed outrage and disbelief that someone we knew could do such a thing. Most wanted a place to vent and share their feelings for a little girl they didn't even know. So please feel free to post your comments by clicking this link. Like most of the other news forums and blogs, people have been touched by this event. And although not the outcome we all had wished for, at least her family knows little Sarah is in a much better place.
EDITOR'S NOTE: The following was submitted by Jeff Rantz, a Wicomico County Deputy Sheriff, theTournament Director for the Salisbury VFW, Salisbury Moose and the Assistant Director at the Civic Center. I've known Jeff almost my entire life and grew up with his family. Jeff is a very strong willed person, a great friend with whom I'd trust with my life. For Jeff to write the following, I think you will all agree how greatful we should all be he is part of our (poker) community and the entire Eastern Shore for that matter: Jeff Rantz wrote: "Today is December 25th, Christmas, it's 3:20am, approximately 2 days ago, my Christmas List changed drastically. All I want for Christmas is to find an 11 year old little girl named Sarah Foxwell. She was taken from her home, located approximately 2 football fields from my home. I hired her mother about a year ago to be a bartender at the VFW (Jen). I also have played cards with the man in custody for her kidnapping. I conclude this post by saying, pray for the safe return of Sarah and TAKE NOTHING FOR GRANTED. Thomas Leggs has been charged with this kidnapping. If any of you have any information of Thomas Leggs, or as some of you may know him as TJ, that you feel maybe helpful, please contact the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office or give me a call.
